Position Summary

The Disease Area Specialist (Cardiovascular) is a medical affairs role responsible for driving disease area strategy, scientific leadership, and cross-functional alignment within the cardiovascular therapeutic area. The role partners closely with country medical leadership and field medical teams to ensure execution of global and local medical strategies, while supporting scientific engagement, education, and clinical activities in India.

This is a hybrid head-office based role with approximately 20–30% field engagement.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy and Execution

  • Partner with the Country Medical Director to align local medical activities with global (WW) strategies.

  • Translate and implement therapeutic area (TA) strategies into actionable country-level medical plans.

  • Plan and execute high-quality medical education initiatives in the cardiovascular disease area.

  • Support delivery of clinical trials in India in collaboration with clinical operations teams, ensuring timelines, quality, and compliance.

  • Provide scientific leadership and mentoring to medical teams, including MSLs, FMSM, and sales/marketing teams.

  • Ensure alignment of medical activities across internal stakeholders and regional/global teams.

  • Promote a culture of performance, innovation, and constructive scientific challenge.

  • Ensure adherence to compliance, ethical standards, and company policies.


2. Scientific Leadership and Capability Building

  • Act as a subject matter expert in cardiovascular disease and related therapies.

  • Provide continuous scientific training and upskilling for internal teams.

  • Serve as a role model for ethical scientific engagement and professional behavior.

  • Support scientific capability building across medical affairs and field teams.


3. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with commercial, marketing, and medical teams to align strategies.

  • Collaborate with field medical teams to ensure consistent scientific messaging.

  • Engage with global and intercontinental (Intercon) teams and represent India in regional discussions.


4. Clinical and Medical Support

  • Contribute to clinical trial planning and execution in coordination with RCO teams.

  • Provide scientific input for study feasibility and medical strategy development.

  • Support development and delivery of scientific medical programs and initiatives.


5. Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure all activities comply with internal policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor adherence to BMS compliance frameworks across medical activities.

  • Act as a governance role model within the organization.


Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent required).

  • Preferred specialization or experience in Cardiovascular medicine.

  • 4–5+ years of relevant industry experience in pharmaceuticals or medical affairs.

  • Strong background in cardiovascular therapeutic area, ideally with experience in innovative therapies.

  • Experience working in matrix organizations and cross-functional global teams.

  • Fluent English communication skills.
