Job Description: Therapeutic Strategy VP

Job Overview

IQVIA is seeking an experienced and visionary Therapeutic Strategy Vice President (VP) to drive pharmaceutical product development strategies across drugs, biologics, and devices. This role requires a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, strong expertise in FDA regulatory expectations, and knowledge of the global landscape in Rare Disease and Pediatrics. Experience in cell and gene therapies is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a track record of innovation, commercial success, and the ability to create integrative, end-to-end product development strategies that bridge clinical and commercial objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and oversee comprehensive product development strategies from discovery through commercialization.

  • Lead preclinical, clinical, regulatory, and commercial strategies with a focus on clinical-commercial convergence.

  • Conduct risk assessments, probability-of-success analyses, and gap analyses in clinical development.

  • Propose strategies to accelerate drug development timelines while managing risks.

Clinical & Regulatory Expertise

  • Lead and support clinical trial design and execution across various therapeutic areas.

  • Provide therapeutic and regulatory guidance to ensure compliance with global medical, ethical, and regulatory standards.

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, data-driven outputs meeting scientific and ethical standards.

  • Support due diligence activities with scientific, medical, and regulatory expertise.

Innovation & Business Development

  • Identify and promote innovation in pharmaceutical product development.

  • Provide strategic insights to support business development and investment opportunities.

  • Actively participate in strategic business development activities, including client presentations and professional conferences.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with biopharma companies, KOLs, and external stakeholders.

Internal & External Engagement

  • Serve as a key resource for cross-functional teams, CRO operations, and therapeutic units.

  • Deliver internal and external educational services on therapeutic and product development topics.

  • Represent IQVIA at scientific meetings and conferences, staying up to date with industry trends and innovations.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction through collaborative engagement with clients and internal leadership.


Qualifications

  • MD degree required.

  • 15+ years of relevant clinical research experience with multi-regional/global exposure.

  • Minimum of 10 years in leadership roles within pharmaceutical product development.

  • Strong background in Rare Disease and Pediatrics; experience in cell and gene therapy preferred.

  • Prior or recent health authority experience (e.g., FDA medical reviewer) highly desirable.

  • Proven business development experience.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.


Work Environment & Requirements

  • Regular use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate speech perception.

  • Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers.

  • Regular sitting for extended periods of time.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Pay Range (Annualized): $186,300 – $519,000

  • Actual pay will depend on factors such as qualifications, skills, education, experience, location, and work schedule.

  • Additional compensation opportunities may include incentive plans, bonuses, and other rewards.
