Job Overview

The Director of Strategy and Operations will play a pivotal role in defining, executing, and evolving the GCO (Global Clinical Operations) Program Strategy & Planning (PSP) strategic vision. This role is accountable for supporting current and future functional and portfolio goals and requires a critical enterprise thinker who works cross-functionally to influence key areas of vision and strategic initiatives. The individual will inspire the adoption of innovative product delivery practices within clinical operations and in external environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Vision Development: Support the creation and execution of the strategic vision for PSP, translating it into clear yearly goals and objectives with measurable progress tracking.
  • Resource Allocation: Develop and manage a sustainable resourcing model across PSP, including algorithmic development, for real-time portfolio-driven resource allocation.
  • Operationalization of PSP Goals: Manage specific areas of operationalizing PSP objectives, ensuring that value drivers, KPIs, metrics, and decisions are impactful in portfolio delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Internal/External Communication: Create, shape, and manage internal/external messaging and communication strategies related to PSP.
  • Thought Leadership: Stay updated on industry trends, provide direction for business requirements, and contribute to systems and processes that drive operational excellence and innovation.
  • Capability and Training Development: Oversee capability building and training needs related to PSP elements, such as onboarding, functional/technical training, and new ways of working.
  • Cross-Functional Initiatives: Participate in cross-functional and cross-divisional initiatives, ensuring alignment with the future portfolio strategy.

Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a global strategy, innovation, or clinical operations leadership role, with specific experience in clinical trials preferred.
  • Financial Management: Strong experience in budget and finance management within pharmaceutical research and development settings.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated leadership in project management, innovation in pharmaceutical development, and technical approaches.
  • Lean/Six Sigma: LEAN/Six Sigma certification or relevant experience preferred.
  • Agile Methodology: Experience with Agile/Sprint methodology in project management is preferred.
  • Technical Systems Knowledge: Experience in the assessment and rollout of technical systems (both off-the-shelf and internally developed).
  • Drug Development Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the drug development process, with demonstrated success in planning and executing cross-functional projects.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional negotiation, conflict resolution, decision-making, and communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • IT Competence: Proficient in various IT systems, including SharePoint and basic website development/maintenance.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (both verbal and written).
