Job Overview

Syneos Health is hiring experienced leadership professionals for the role of Director / Sr. Director – Strategy and Delivery (Oncology). The selected candidate will oversee oncology clinical research portfolios, lead strategic project delivery initiatives, manage high-level client relationships, and drive operational excellence across global clinical programs.

This role is ideal for senior professionals with extensive experience in oncology clinical operations, strategic project management, financial oversight, business development, and customer relationship management within pharmaceutical, CRO, or biotechnology environments.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Project Delivery & Clinical Operations

  • Provide executive oversight for assigned oncology clinical research projects
  • Ensure study launch, execution, and closeout activities align with:
    • Customer agreements
    • SOPs
    • GCP guidelines
    • ICH standards
    • Regulatory requirements
  • Drive on-time, high-quality project delivery within approved scope and budget
  • Conduct:
    • Monthly risk reviews
    • Financial assessments
    • Delivery checkpoint meetings
  • Utilize analytics, dashboards, and operational metrics to identify risks and mitigation strategies
  • Support patient safety, data integrity, and quality compliance initiatives
  • Lead escalation management and operational issue resolution
  • Participate in project risk review and governance meetings
  • Mentor project leaders in:
    • Risk management
    • Forecasting
    • Operational excellence
    • Strategic decision-making

Client Management & Business Development

  • Act as the senior operational leader and primary client contact for assigned accounts
  • Build and maintain long-term strategic client relationships
  • Understand customer needs and implement tailored operational solutions
  • Lead proposal development activities and strategic bid defense meetings
  • Present Syneos Health capabilities during governance and client review meetings
  • Support new business development and repeat business growth opportunities
  • Drive customer satisfaction and reduce escalation-related issues

Financial Stewardship & Resource Management

  • Maintain accountability for:
    • Project financial health
    • Forecasting accuracy
    • Resource utilization
    • Profitability management
  • Manage:
    • Budget adherence
    • Scope changes
    • Change orders
    • Financial risk mitigation
  • Collaborate with finance and operational teams to optimize project profitability and delivery efficiency

Leadership & Team Development

  • Foster high-performance, cross-functional collaboration across project teams
  • Mentor and develop Project Management professionals and operational leaders
  • Support onboarding, coaching, training, and professional development initiatives
  • Drive employee engagement, retention, and leadership growth strategies
  • Provide constructive feedback and performance guidance

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure projects maintain compliance with:
    • GCP Guidelines
    • ICH standards
    • SOPs
    • Regulatory requirements
  • Lead quality improvement and CAPA resolution initiatives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address quality and compliance concerns
  • Promote audit readiness and continuous operational improvement

Strategic Initiatives & Innovation

  • Participate in corporate and departmental strategic initiatives
  • Support process optimization, operational transformation, and change management programs
  • Champion adoption of innovative systems and delivery models
  • Contribute strategic insights aligned with organizational growth objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in:
    • Life Sciences
    • Pharmacy
    • Biotechnology
    • Healthcare
    • Clinical Research
    • Business Administration
    • Or related disciplines
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Oncology clinical research
    • Clinical operations leadership
