Job Summary

Amgen is hiring a seasoned Director – Scientific Communications to lead its Therapeutic Area communication strategy from its Hyderabad office. In this pivotal role, you will manage a high-performing team focused on global publications, medical content, and payer communications aligned with Amgen’s scientific goals. Collaborating across U.S. and global medical teams, you will drive excellence in scientific communication, process innovation, and strategic execution. This opportunity is ideal for a senior leader with a robust background in medical communication, publication strategy, and people management in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Scientific Communications team across assigned therapeutic areas

  • Develop and oversee holistic scientific communication plans for medical and commercial use

  • Supervise high-quality scientific content creation (publications, global medical content, payer materials)

  • Partner with global medical and publication teams for strategic alignment

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and publication guidelines (e.g., GPP, ICMJE)

  • Drive innovation through process automation and multi-channel content delivery

  • Manage team performance, training programs, and resource allocation

  • Track KPIs, KQIs, and other performance metrics

  • Collaborate with Global Learning and Performance on TA-specific training initiatives

  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure adherence to project scope and quality


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Doctorate / Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences

  • 18–23 years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry

  • Minimum 4 years in scientific publications, medical communications, or medical value/access strategy

  • Minimum 4 years in a managerial or leadership role

  • Strong understanding of regulatory, legal, and scientific communications standards

  • Experience with digital content strategies and omnichannel communication platforms

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and matrix projects

  • Excellent scientific writing and communication abilities

  • Familiarity with compliance standards like ICMJE, GPP, and SOP-driven review cycles
