Job Summary

IQVIA is hiring a Director – Safety Operations to lead global pharmacovigilance service delivery in Kolkata. This senior-level position requires strategic oversight across Lifecycle Safety operations, resource planning, client management, SOP adherence, and cross-functional team leadership. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in GVP, team management, operational excellence, and client-facing communication within CRO or pharma settings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Safety Operations teams across multiple service lines ensuring KPIs and SLAs are met.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client accounts, including escalations and project scope expansion.

  • Provide strategic input and leadership in service delivery, including risk mitigation, operational decisions, and budget management.

  • Support proposal responses (RFPs), bid defenses, and operational strategy development.

  • Mentor safety operations managers and oversee staffing, hiring, training, and retention.

  • Represent IQVIA at industry forums, client meetings, and global initiatives.

  • Oversee financial performance and reporting across multiple safety operations projects.

  • Participate in SOP development, project documentation, performance analytics, and quality management.

  • Ensure global delivery coordination across time zones with flexibility in shift support.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Health Sciences (required).

  • 15+ years in pharma, CRO, or life sciences, including 10+ years of workforce management (400+ employees).

  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacovigilance regulations and global safety service lines.

  • Experience in strategic planning, client engagement, and operational performance management.

  • Expertise in ICH-GCP, GVP, regulatory compliance, and global drug safety.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional and global teams.

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency in performance metrics, SOP development, and project finance.

  • Flexibility for global collaboration and willingness to travel occasionally.
