Job Summary

Abbott's Heart Failure Division is seeking an experienced Director, Clinical Insights Development based in Pleasanton, California. This leadership role will drive strategy and execution of AI-driven clinical insights derived from large healthcare data sets, influencing personalized diagnostics and therapeutic approaches for heart failure management. The ideal candidate brings advanced expertise in machine learning, data science, and medical device innovation to transform clinical research and improve patient outcomes globally.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for generating actionable clinical insights aligned with Heart Failure Division goals.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Marketing, Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, and Reimbursement.

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of data scientists, engineers, and clinical insight specialists.

  • Design and optimize predictive models using machine learning to address complex clinical challenges.

  • Establish and maintain computational infrastructure supporting advanced data science applications.

  • Ensure data governance and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Forge partnerships with academic and healthcare institutions for external research and data collaboration.

  • Stay informed on AI/ML advancements and integrate new technologies to deliver cutting-edge clinical solutions.

  • Represent Abbott as a clinical insights thought leader via conferences, panels, and peer-reviewed publications.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a medical or scientific field or equivalent experience (Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, Computer/Data Science preferred).

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in healthcare data analysis, clinical research, or AI/ML.

  • Proven track record in developing and applying advanced AI/ML algorithms.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with prior experience managing data science teams.

  • Expertise in regulatory-compliant medical device environments.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across global teams and external partners.

  • Familiarity with predictive modeling, data engineering, and clinical decision support systems.
