    Position Title: Lead Data Scientist – AI/ML

    Role Summary:

    The successful candidate will leverage Pfizer’s proprietary and external data to drive hypothesis generation for drug discovery and clinical development. Partnering with clinical statisticians, pharmacologists, medical development leads, and evidence teams, the role will focus on integrating advanced AI/ML techniques into Pfizer's portfolio under the guidance of the AQDS function head. This role involves collaborating on AI/ML project reviews using contemporary methods such as Causal AI, Generative AI, Digital Twins, and Knowledge Graphs, and managing strategic external partnerships in India to advance data science.

    Role Responsibilities:

    1. Leadership and Management:

      • Lead the AQDS organization in India, overseeing recruitment, resource management, and mentoring.
      • Develop and guide cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

    2. AI/ML Integration:

      • Collaborate with key therapeutic areas to identify scientific challenges and relevant data sources.
      • Select and implement AI/ML methodologies, conveying insights to clinical and operational teams to advance Global Biometrics & Data Management objectives.
      • Supervise data collection and model building to ensure robust performance of predictive and classification algorithms.

    3. Regulatory and Strategic Support:

      • Serve as an AI/ML subject matter expert during regulatory interactions to clarify methodologies, results, and interpretations.
      • Deliver AI/ML models and analytics to interrogate datasets for insights in scientific and operational applications, employing techniques such as classification, regression, clustering, NLP, Generative AI, image analysis, knowledge graphs, and digital twins.

    4. Innovation and Knowledge Sharing:

      • Keep Pfizer’s methodologies current through sharing knowledge of new tools and vendors in AI/ML.
      • Maintain an active network in the life sciences AI/ML community to stay updated on state-of-the-art capabilities and their impact on development teams.

    5. Clinical Development and Strategy:

      • Utilize expertise in clinical development and data analytics to design valuable solutions, advising team members and stakeholders on practical approaches.
      • Translate clinical data and analytics needs into actionable projects for the AQDS team.

    6. External Partnerships:

      • Lead strategic external partnerships in India with commercial partners, academic centers, and government/non-profit organizations to advance data science initiatives.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum 8 years of experience in biopharmaceutical or tech companies in data science, including at least 3 years in a leadership role with increasing responsibilities.
    • Advanced degree (PhD preferred, or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or Biomedical Engineering.
    • Proven expertise in biomedical informatics, clinical/medical informatics, computational biology, and AI/ML.
    • Strong understanding of biopharmaceutical clinical trial data and molecular biomarkers.
    • Experience in translating customer needs into effective AI/ML solutions.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Julia.
    • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and team-building ability.
