Job Overview

Optum, a global healthcare services and technology organization under UnitedHealth Group, is hiring a Deputy Manager – Record to Report (R2R) to strengthen its finance operations team in Hyderabad. This role is responsible for end-to-end general accounting, month-end close activities, reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and compliance with US GAAP and internal control standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Record to Report (R2R) accounting activities in a self-directed and timely manner

  • Execute general accounting functions, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments

  • Prepare, reconcile, and analyze general ledger and intercompany accounts

  • Generate and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end close reports

  • Conduct monthly quality assurance reviews to ensure internal control and SOX compliance

  • Perform ad hoc and regulatory reporting, providing clear analysis and explanations of variances

  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies within defined timelines

  • Identify unusual or high-risk transactions and escalate appropriately

  • Support internal and external audit requests, including documentation and data analysis

  • Prepare detailed documentation of accounting methodologies, analyses, and conclusions

  • Contribute to continuous process improvements and special finance projects as assigned


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 7+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a shared services or global finance environment

  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and corporate accounting practices

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

  • Proven ability to analyze large datasets using complex Excel workbooks

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Journal entry preparation and general ledger systems

    • Account reconciliations and month-end close processes

    • Audit coordination and compliance documentation

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, global organization with increasing levels of responsibility


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger, Essbase, or similar ERP/reporting tools

  • Prior exposure to internal controls and SOX compliance

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including macros and automation

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access
