About the Role:
Optum, a part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a highly driven Deputy Manager to lead coding operations at its Noida facility. In this leadership position, you'll be responsible for overseeing a medical coding team, ensuring compliance, productivity, and quality standards, while maintaining client satisfaction and team morale. The role demands operational expertise, people management skills, and a strong foundation in medical coding and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding, billing regulations, and industry changes.

  • Drive performance in key KPIs including productivity, quality, turnaround time (TAT), attendance, and attrition.

  • Use analytical thinking and data interpretation for decision-making and rapid issue resolution.

  • Lead end-to-end project operations, including personnel management, performance tracking, and discipline.

  • Provide strategic leadership within assigned functional areas and contribute to broader operational planning.

  • Handle all client-facing responsibilities and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders.

  • Review and analyze performance reports and metrics to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Support internal audits and ensure alignment with quality standards and compliance norms.

  • Build and foster a collaborative work environment focused on employee engagement, creativity, and teamwork.

  • Supervise staff performance, prioritize tasks, resolve issues, and provide ongoing direction.

  • Offer coaching and development for team members, with focus on training outliers and reducing attrition.

  • Align operations with annual business plans, including budgeting and process efficiency goals.

  • Actively contribute to conflict resolution, critical situation management, and performance feedback cycles.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate or Postgraduate in Life Sciences or Allied Medicine (BHMS, BAMS, BPT, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing, etc.)

  • Certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CPC-H, CCS, CCS-P)

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in medical coding, with at least 3 years as a Team Lead

  • Deep understanding of human anatomy, medical terminology, pathophysiology, and coding standards

  • Strong background in healthcare reimbursement methodologies and coding compliance

  • Experience in training, coaching, and managing large teams to meet organizational targets

  • Demonstrated ability in team building, stakeholder communication, and driving engagement
