Position Overview:

We are looking for a Deputy Manager - Environment to join Jubilant Ingrevia Limited. This position will be responsible for managing environmental compliance, ensuring business continuity through timely renewals of environmental licenses, and overseeing environmental projects aimed at sustainability and resource optimization. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and work closely with various stakeholders to drive environmental initiatives within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Tracking and Renewals:

    • Monitor the validity of all environmental licenses and permits.
    • Ensure timely renewal and amendments to licenses to maintain business continuity.
  • Environmental Licenses:

    • Lead the process of obtaining necessary environmental licenses from regulatory authorities across all sites.
  • Compliance Review:

    • Periodically review compliance with various environmental licenses, including EC, CFE, CTO, HWA, CGWA NoC, UPGWA NoC.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with stipulated conditions at all sites.
  • Legislation and Regulation Updates:

    • Stay updated on new environmental legislations and amendments.
    • Assess the impact of new regulations on operations and develop action plans to ensure compliance.
    • Maintain a comprehensive library of all relevant environmental regulations for future reference.
  • Regulatory Orders and Notices:

    • Monitor and interpret NGT orders, MoEFCC/CPCB directions, and public notices.
    • Identify potential risks related to regulatory changes and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Environmental Projects:

    • Conceptualize and implement projects aimed at environmental compliance, resource optimization, cost reduction, and sustainability.
  • Environmental Studies:

    • Facilitate and undertake environmental studies to ensure regulatory compliance and operational sustainability.
  • Regulatory Communication:

    • Draft responses to regulatory letters, notices, public complaints, customer/vendor queries, and provide stakeholder reporting.
  • Certification Audits:

    • Facilitate and manage certification audits for corporate offices and sites to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Budget and Strategy:

    • Prepare and monitor the implementation of the annual budget for environmental compliance activities.
    • Develop and implement strategies to ensure business continuity while maintaining compliance with environmental standards.
  • Capacity on Environment:

    • Demonstrate expertise in all environmental laws and groundwater regulations applicable to the chemical manufacturing and distillery industry.
    • Knowledge of environmental monitoring and industry performance standards.
    • Effective techno-legal communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Strong understanding of ETPs (Effluent Treatment Plants), STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants), and ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) systems.
  • Liaison and Relationship Building:

    • Establish and maintain technical liaisons with environmental regulators at state and central levels.
    • Work closely with industry associations, peers, and regulatory bodies to stay informed on trends and regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Qualifications:

    • B.E. in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
    • M.Tech or LLB is desirable.
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in managing environmental compliance in chemical manufacturing or distillery sectors.
    • Strong knowledge of environmental laws, groundwater regulations, and environmental monitoring standards.
  • Skills:

    • Strong project management and communication skills.
    • Ability to interpret and apply environmental legislation to business operations.
    • Good understanding of ETPs, STPs, and ZLD systems.
