Job Overview

DaVita is seeking an Insurance Counselor to provide crucial education and guidance to dialysis patients about their health insurance options. This vital, patient-centered role is designed to help patients navigate complex insurance choices, alleviating stress and empowering them to make informed decisions related to their healthcare and employment needs.

Location & Work Requirements

  • 80% Remote Work with 20% Travel to local DaVita facilities in Downtown Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
  • Candidates must reside in Los Angeles, CA or nearby areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Insurance Education & Counseling: Provide clear guidance on insurance options, including government programs (Medicare, Medicaid) and commercial insurance plans (PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Indemnity).
  • Identify Financial Assistance: Help patients secure better insurance coverage and financial assistance to reduce healthcare costs.
  • Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service to DaVita patients, ensuring their questions and concerns about insurance are addressed.
  • Collaboration: Act as a liaison between patients, facility teammates, billing offices, and the corporate team to resolve insurance-related issues.
  • Data Tracking & Reporting: Conduct insurance assessments, track patient education sessions, and report on key metrics regarding patient advocacy.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the insurance education process.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans (PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Indemnity). Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Bilingual/Spanish-speaking candidates strongly preferred.
  • Vaccination: Full COVID-19 vaccination or a medical/religious exemption required.
  • Remote Work Requirements: High-speed internet (minimum 40 GB), secure workspace, and reliable transportation for travel to local facilities.

Salary/Wage Range
