Job Description – DACH Medical Director (Osteogenesis Imperfecta)

Job Overview: IQVIA is seeking a highly skilled DACH Medical Director to lead pre-launch medical engagement for a groundbreaking treatment in Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), with a focus on Germany. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and execution of regional medical affairs strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement the DACH medical affairs plan, focusing on pre-launch activities for OI.
  • Map OI treatment centers, identifying key hubs and spokes, and work with the Country Patient Access Lead to gather insights into patient numbers, treatment pathways, and the OI landscape.
  • Engage with healthcare professionals (HCPs) across the DACH region, ensuring compliance with local regulations and guidelines.
  • Support the SATURN Real World Evidence (RWE) Program in alignment with global medical strategies.
  • Attend local OI scientific meetings, engage with KOLs and HCPs, and contribute to scientific publications.
  • Participate in German Early Scientific Advice meetings and assist in preparing materials and presenting medical strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Patient Access Lead on dossier strategy and reimbursement processes, including hearing preparations.
  • Contribute to the DACH-specific Patient Access Strategy Plan to ensure successful OI treatment launch.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) qualification.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s/Ph.D.) in pharmaceutical science or a related field is advantageous.
  • 7-10 years of experience in medical affairs, ideally within biotech or pharmaceutical companies.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare systems within the DACH region, particularly the German AMNOG reimbursement pathway.
  • Proven experience in rare disease therapy development and medical affairs during late-stage development and launch.

  • Excellent communication skills and experience in presenting complex information to various audiences.
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ) and the ability to build long-term relationships within rare disease communities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation and market shaping, especially for therapies with no current alternatives.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative with strong organizational skills.
  • Fluency in German and English with excellent presentation and analytical skills.
