Clinical Research Physician – Medical Affairs

Purpose:
The Clinical Research Physician (CRP) applies scientific and medical expertise to support the medical affairs, development, and commercialization activities of the business unit. This role involves collaborating with internal teams to enhance customer experience, including patients, healthcare providers (HCPs), and payers. The CRP works with global Development teams, Translational Medicine, and Therapeutic Area Program Phase teams throughout the drug development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.


Primary Responsibilities:

Business/Customer Support (Pre and Post Launch):

  • Anticipate and address scientific information needs of payers, patients, and HCPs.

  • Lead data analyses and initiate clinical or health outcomes research efforts.

  • Contribute to the development of medical strategies for brand commercialization.

  • Provide clinical input to payer partnership programs and product value defense.

  • Offer medical expertise for business-to-business and business-to-government activities.

  • Develop and maintain scientific content for educational programs and conferences.

  • Support sales representatives and medical training initiatives.

Scientific Data Dissemination/Exchange:

  • Comply with local laws, regulations, and company standards on data dissemination.

  • Address external HCPs' unsolicited scientific information needs.

  • Support planning of advisory boards, symposia, and scientific meetings.

  • Prepare and review scientific information and responses to customer inquiries.

  • Collaborate with investigators and professional societies to build relationships.

Clinical Planning:

  • Communicate local research needs to global teams.

  • Align Phase 3, 3b, and 4 clinical programs with local/regional customer needs.

  • Represent local clinical requirements to business unit medical leadership.

Clinical Research/Trial Execution and Support:

  • Review and approve local informed consent documents.

  • Collaborate on the design, conduct, and reporting of local clinical trials.

  • Assist clinical operations with study initiation and investigator support.

  • Monitor patient safety during trials and ensure compliance with GCPs.

Regulatory Support Activities:

  • Assist with local labeling, registration, and regulatory reports.

  • Provide medical expertise for regulatory submissions and risk management planning.

Scientific/Technical Expertise and Development:

  • Stay current with clinical trends, competitive products, and relevant literature.

  • Contribute to medical congresses and scientific symposia.

  • Provide scientific training and mentorship to the clinical study team.

General Responsibilities:

  • Support business unit management with budget administration.

  • Set and meet professional development goals while contributing to team growth.

  • Offer coaching and constructive feedback to colleagues and direct reports.
