Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Illustrator to join Mind the Graph, our platform that transforms complex scientific content into clear, didactic, and visually compelling science figures.

As a Medical Illustrator, you will create high-quality anatomical, surgical, and scientific illustrations for journals, graphical abstracts, educational materials, and marketing collateral. You will collaborate with scientific writers and clients to ensure every illustration meets the highest standards of scientific accuracy and design quality.


Key Responsibilities

Design & Delivery

  • Create detailed and accurate scientific, medical, and surgical illustrations.

  • Collaborate with writers and clients to translate complex technical content into clear, impactful visuals.

  • Identify gaps in Mind the Graph’s illustration library and develop new assets to enhance the platform’s catalogue.

  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and scientific accuracy in all visual outputs.

  • Work across multiple projects, including journal figures, graphical abstracts, journal covers, and educational diagrams, while meeting deadlines.

  • Evaluate outputs from AI illustration tools to identify best practices and support implementation.

Quality Management

  • Maintain scientific accuracy by reviewing source material and verifying details.

  • Provide feedback and creative input to continuously improve project outcomes.

  • Uphold quality standards to ensure reliability, accuracy, and client satisfaction.


Qualifications and Prerequisites

  • 5–7 years of professional experience as a Medical Illustrator or in a related scientific/medical visualization role.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Medical Illustration, Biomedical Visualization, Life Sciences, or a related field.

  • Proven expertise in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; experience with 3D tools (Blender, Cinema4D, ZBrush, or equivalent) is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical concepts.

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts visually for both scientific and lay audiences.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating anatomical, surgical, and scientific illustrations.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects efficiently.

  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and creative mindset, combining science and art to produce impactful visuals.
