Coder Physician – Remote (Boca Raton, FL, United States)

Full-Time | Pro-Fee Coding | Multi-Specialty | Healthcare Documentation

Position Overview

Omega Healthcare is seeking an experienced Coder Physician (Pro-Fee Denial Coder) to support multi-specialty coding with a focus on OB/GYN, Family Practice, and Behavioral Health. This role requires expertise in professional fee coding, denial management, E&M services, hospital rounds, and office procedures. The position is remote with a flexible schedule within standard operational hours.

This is a short-term assignment (November to March) with the potential to work across diverse medical specialties.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and code medical diagnoses, procedures, DRG/APC codes, and charge codes across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and pro-fee settings.

  • Abstract and sequence clinical data with precision following AAPC/AHIMA coding guidelines.

  • Utilize EPIC and Optum Encoder Pro (training provided for qualified candidates).

  • Maintain a minimum 95 percent coding accuracy and achieve productivity targets, including 9 CPH within four weeks.

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, federal and state regulations, and accreditation requirements.

  • Accurately extract, validate, and integrate medical data into billing systems and client-specific platforms.

  • Support denial coding workflows, identify root causes, and ensure correct resubmission practices.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AHIMA, AMA, AHA, and CMS coding rules.

  • Document productivity and maintain performance metrics as outlined by the client.

  • Collaborate professionally with internal teams while ensuring confidentiality of patient information.

Work Environment

  • Fully remote home-office setting

  • Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts

  • Majority of working hours required between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. CST (flexible start times available)


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing digital medical records

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs

  • Ability to maintain focus and meet visual requirements for medical documentation review


Required Education and Experience

  • Completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Medical Coding Certificate Program

  • Minimum 2 years of recent professional fee denial coding experience

  • Experience in at least two of the following specialties:

    • OB/GYN

    • Family Practice

    • Behavioral Health

  • Experience coding office E&M, office procedures, hospital operations, and hospital rounding E&M

  • Strong proficiency in medical terminology and industry coding guidelines


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system

  • Additional specialty coding experience

  • Strong general computer literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly


Mandatory Certifications

Candidates must hold one or more of the following:

  • CPC, COC, CIC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P
