Clinical Research Physician (Therapy Lead) – Neuroscience

Purpose of the Role:
The Clinical Research Physician (CRP) uses scientific, clinical, and medical expertise to support medical affairs, development, and brand teams. The CRP contributes to strategic planning, new product development, clinical trials, regulatory submissions, medical education, and commercialization activities. The role requires ensuring compliance with local and global regulations while maintaining scientific integrity.


Primary Responsibilities:

Medical Expertise in Neuroscience:

  • Provide medical expertise across Lilly’s Neuroscience portfolio (Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, etc.).

  • Develop effective partnerships with cross-functional teams, including Pricing, Reimbursement & Access (PRA), Clinical Operations, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Marketing, and Training.

  • Build strong relationships with key clinicians, influencers, and external groups.

Medical Education and Scientific Support:

  • Support Medical Affairs Professionals (MAPs) and Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs).

  • Develop and review materials, ensuring scientific accuracy.

  • Conduct training sessions for internal teams on disease area knowledge and product data.

Customer Engagement and Medical Strategy:

  • Understand and address scientific information needs of local/regional customers (payers, patients, HCPs).

  • Lead data analyses and initiate new clinical or health outcomes research efforts.

  • Contribute to developing medical strategies supporting brand commercialization.

Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with local laws, global policies, and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).

  • Approve promotional and non-promotional materials in line with local compliance guidelines.

  • Drive responses to challenges from competitors and maintain high ethical standards.

Clinical Planning and Trial Support:

  • Drive India Clinical Trial (CT) selection from the Global and Regional plans.

  • Implement CT plans with quality, speed, and value.

  • Support investigator interaction, site selection, and trial initiation.

External Relations and Scientific Dissemination:

  • Engage with HCPs, Advocacy Groups, and government bodies as per business needs.

  • Drive involvement of HCPs at internal and external meetings.

  • Facilitate publication development and product communications.


People Management Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Medical Affairs Professionals (MAPs) and collaborate with MSLs to enhance scientific knowledge.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management for direct reports.

  • Contribute to recruitment, retention, and diversity efforts.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • MBBS/MD with full Medical Council registration.

  • Therapeutic area clinical/industry expertise within Neuroscience (highly desirable).

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills.

  • Leadership capabilities to identify and develop new opportunities.

  • Ability to balance scientific and business priorities.

  • Willingness to engage in domestic and international travel.

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).
