Job Overview

This role provides foundational and intermediate-level data management expertise within the Clinical Data Management (CDM) team. The position supports delivery of high-quality data management products and may also involve leadership responsibilities under the guidance of the Data Operations Coordinator (DOC), Data Team Lead (DTL), or Functional Manager.


Essential Functions

1. Study & Task Leadership

  • Serve as Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) for:

    • One protocol with <5 operations staff (excluding Data Entry), OR

    • 15+ easy to moderately complex central lab studies.

  • Provide leadership in specific data management tasks (e.g., coding, testing, database design) with supervision.

  • Act as back-up to the DOC or DTL when required.

2. Data Review & Query Management

  • Perform clinical data review as assigned.

  • Write, track, and resolve data clarifications (queries).

  • Ensure data accuracy and compliance with study standards.

3. Database Design & Testing

  • Develop and test clinical databases and edit check specifications.

  • Perform programming-related testing activities.

  • Lead database audit teams when required.

4. Coding & Standards Compliance

  • Perform clinical data coding using standardized medical dictionaries (e.g., MedDRA, WHO-DD).

  • Follow core SOPs, work instructions, and study guidelines.

  • Meet project objectives and timelines consistently.

5. Collaboration & Communication

  • Maintain strong communication and working relationships with CDM team members, managers, and clients.

  • Contribute to an efficient and quality-focused data management environment.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical, Biological, Mathematical Sciences, or related field (required).

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Skills & Competencies

  • Exposure to medical terminology.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and computer skills.

  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills.
