Role Summary

The Clinic Medical Director (CMD) oversees all clinical aspects of their CBOC, providing preventive care, chronic disease management, and treatment for veterans. The CMD ensures clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and a positive patient experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership:

    • Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions in veterans.
    • Perform preventive care and chronic disease management.
    • Conduct periodic chart reviews and ensure compliance with VA guidelines.
  • Operational Management:

    • Manage day-to-day clinic operations and ensure staffing meets patient needs.
    • Analyze clinic performance and address responsiveness to alerts/notifications.
    • Support financial and strategic objectives in collaboration with the Regional Medical Director.
  • Team Development:

    • Recruit, mentor, and coach clinical staff.
    • Provide training and performance management to maintain high-quality care.
  • Veteran Engagement:

    • Assist with patient enrollment and retention initiatives.
    • Participate in community outreach to support clinic visibility and enrollment.
  • Collaboration:

    • Foster a positive relationship with VA partners.
    • Innovate and support strategic initiatives aligned with Valor’s goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 4 years in clinical medical practice; healthcare management experience preferred.
    • Prior experience in government healthcare environments is advantageous.
  • Educational and Licensure Requirements:

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
    • Board certification in family practice or internal medicine.
    • Active and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Certifications:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
    • Current DEA registration.
  • VHA Credentialing:

    • Must be credentialed and in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).

Work Schedule

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM.
