Role Summary

The Clinic Medical Director (CMD) ensures the delivery of high-quality clinical care and efficient operations at the CBOC. This position focuses on the comprehensive care of veterans, leadership of clinical staff, and fostering a collaborative environment to support patient satisfaction and outcomes.


Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee the diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care of veterans, including chronic disease management.
  • Lead the clinic’s day-to-day medical operations to meet high-quality standards.
  • Conduct periodic chart reviews and ensure adherence to VA clinical guidelines.
  • Support veteran enrollment and retention efforts, including outreach and guidance on scheduling and follow-up care.
  • Maintain clinic staffing levels to align with patient enrollment and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor clinic performance metrics and ensure they meet or exceed VA standards.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop clinical talent to maintain a culture of excellence.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Medical Director and VA partners on operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Embrace new clinical and operational innovations to enhance care delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 4 years of clinical medical practice preferred.
    • Healthcare management experience is advantageous.
    • Prior experience in a government healthcare environment preferred.
  • Educational Requirements:

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
    • Board certification in family practice or internal medicine.
  • Licensure and Certifications:

    • Active, unrestricted state medical license or eligibility for licensure in any U.S. state or territory.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
    • Current, unrestricted DEA registration.
  • Additional Skills:

    • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
    • Strong computer and electronic medical record (EMR) skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage clinical teams effectively.
    • Energetic, optimistic, and service-oriented demeanor.

Working Hours

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (40 hours/week).
