Position Summary:
The Bioproduct Research and Development (BR&D) organization at Lilly is seeking a motivated and skilled Chemist - Analytical Chemistry to join our team in Indianapolis. As part of this multidisciplinary group, you will be responsible for evaluating and implementing new analytical technologies and methods to support the development of bioproducts such as insulins, peptides, monoclonal antibodies, and gene therapy systems. This role will provide exposure to a broad range of analytical techniques and collaboration across various scientific teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and implement new analytical methods and technologies to advance Lilly’s analytical capabilities, focusing on state-of-the-art separation sciences.
  • Develop and optimize analytical methods to support the progression of Lilly’s bioproduct portfolio.
  • Generate key data and insights using a range of instrumental analysis techniques, including HPLC, UHPLC, capillary electrophoresis, LCMS, and other advanced methods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Development and Manufacturing, to develop and validate robust analytical methods.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, apply scientific concepts, and contribute to multiple projects.
  • Communicate the technical and business implications of your work clearly in both written and verbal forms.

Basic Requirements:

  • MS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • OR a BS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in analytical chemistry.

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience with chromatographic separations and/or spectroscopic methods, particularly for the analysis of oligonucleotides, peptides, therapeutic proteins, monoclonal antibodies, and gene therapy systems.
  • Experience with method validation and transfer processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple projects and handle ambiguity.

  • Exposure to chemicals, allergens, and loud noises may be encountered.
  • Travel: 0 to 10%.
  • Work Environment: Laboratory setting at Lilly Technology Center-North (LTC-N), Indianapolis, IN.
