BPO Medical Records Coding Associate

Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Medical Records Coding Associate to join our Healthcare BPO team in Chennai. This role focuses on accurately converting patient diagnoses and procedures into standardized medical codes, ensuring consistency across documentation, and supporting the quality assurance process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review clinical documentation to understand assigned patient diagnoses.

  • Accurately transform healthcare diagnoses, procedures, medical services, and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes.

  • Maintain a uniform vocabulary for describing injury, illness, and treatment across healthcare facilities.

  • Ensure consistent and accurate documentation between medical facilities.

  • Perform primary coding tasks, with potential to take on quality control (QC) responsibilities.

  • Utilize Windows PC applications and medical coding software tools efficiently.

  • Work within scheduled shifts (Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM IST), with flexibility for overtime and weekend requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Healthcare BPO, preferably with ED coding exposure.

  • Strong knowledge of ED coding and procedure codes.

  • Ability and potential to progress into QC roles and support audit tasks.

  • Proficiency with Windows PC applications and coding software.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding tasks.

  • Good communication skills for team collaboration and client interactions.

Preferred Skills

  • Analytical mindset to review documentation and identify discrepancies.

  • Ability to adapt to changing shift schedules and business requirements.

  • Team-oriented approach and willingness to mentor junior staff.
