About the Role:
Join Amgen as a Biostatistical Programming Senior Manager, where your leadership will directly impact real-world evidence (RWE) generation through advanced statistical programming. You will lead and mentor programming teams, ensure project delivery, collaborate globally, and uphold scientific excellence in real-world data (RWD) environments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical solutions for programming challenges within CfOR (Center for Observational Research)

  • Lead programming and process improvement initiatives

  • Represent programming in cross-functional team meetings

  • Oversee project management activities, resource planning, and timelines

  • Ensure adherence to programming standards and SOPs

  • Review/approve programming plans and dataset specifications

  • Contribute to and validate software programs and macro utilities in Unix

  • Supervise outsourced programming activities

  • Participate in SOP and policy development, audits, and inspections

  • Recruit and mentor programming staff

  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and external professional forums


Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Doctorate + 2 years of relevant experience, OR

    • Master’s + 8–10 years, OR

    • Bachelor’s + 10–14 years, OR

    • Diploma + 14–18 years

    • Fields: Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, Economics, or related

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 8 years in statistical, systems, or application programming in clinical/life sciences

    • Prior team or project leadership experience in RWD environments

    • Proven background with SAS and SQL

    • Preferred: R and Python


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with OMOP Common Data Model

  • Experience in RWE generation or clinical trials

  • Multi-team or departmental leadership

  • Global collaboration across time zones

  • Exposure to healthcare data sources (MarketScan, Optum, Medicare, Flatiron, CPRD)


Key Competencies:

  • Hands-on expertise with SAS (required), SQL (required), R (preferred), Python (preferred)

  • Strong documentation and communication skills

  • Agile project management practices

  • Deep knowledge in epidemiology/statistics

  • Familiarity with data quality tools (Informatica, Ataccama) and CDISC standards (for regulatory roles)

  • Proven leadership, innovation, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
