Position Overview

As a Behavioral Health Crisis Specialist, you will deliver direct crisis intervention services to patients across all age groups in the Emergency Department and hospital units. Leveraging your expertise in crisis intervention and psychiatric assessment, you will:

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations and recommend appropriate levels of care.
  • Formulate patient dispositions in collaboration with physicians, families, and community providers.
  • Obtain authorizations for inpatient behavioral health services.
  • Educate patients and families about behavioral health resources.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $40.61 - $51.85/hour.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Master’s Degree in Human Services (e.g., Social Work, Professional Counseling).
    • Active Maryland licensure as LGPC or LMSW (required).
    • Licensure as LCPC or LCSW-C (preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Psychiatric clinical experience (preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Strong crisis intervention and critical decision-making abilities.
    • Proficiency in psychiatric assessment and advocating for patient needs.
    • Ability to manage potentially volatile situations.
    • Effective communication with healthcare professionals and community providers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver crisis intervention services for diverse populations (children to geriatric).
  2. Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and apply diagnostic criteria to determine care levels.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered dispositions.
  4. Manage inpatient admission processes, including securing authorizations.
  5. Provide behavioral health education and support to patients, families, and the healthcare team.
