Position Overview

We are seeking a Crisis Intervention Specialist to provide direct crisis intervention services to a variety of patient populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This position involves working within the Emergency Department and hospital units, conducting psychiatric assessments, and collaborating with healthcare providers to determine the appropriate level of care for behavioral health patients. The Crisis Intervention Specialist will play an integral role in formulating dispositions with the medical team, families, and community partners while ensuring timely authorizations for inpatient services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments for patients in crisis situations across various age groups.
  • Apply knowledge of diagnostic criteria to evaluate and recommend the appropriate level of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, healthcare professionals, and community partners to formulate treatment plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and diffuse potentially violent situations.
  • Obtain authorizations for inpatient services as necessary.
  • Offer behavioral health education to patients and families.
  • Ensure that all interventions align with best practices for crisis management.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Master’s degree in Human Services (e.g., Social Work, Professional Counseling, etc.).
    • Licensure: Licensed as an LGPC or LMSW in the state of Maryland (required).
    • Preferred: LCPC or LCSW-C license.
  • Experience:

    • Previous psychiatric clinical experience preferred but not required.
  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Crisis intervention expertise and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
    • Proficient in assessing and advocating for patients' behavioral health needs.
    • Experience in diffusing potentially violent situations.
    • Strong communication skills, both with healthcare teams and patients/families.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage assignments effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $36.504 - $44.616 per hour.
