Role Summary
The Associate – Microbiology will support microbiological testing, method validation, and quality control of raw materials, intermediates, and finished pharmaceutical products. The role includes maintaining microbiological cultures, performing sterility and endotoxin tests, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with cGMP and GLP standards.

Key Responsibilities

Microbiological Testing & Laboratory Operations

  • Prepare and maintain media stocks, sterilize laboratory accessories via autoclave cycles.

  • Manage receipt, storage, and handling of bio ball cultures, master cultures, and cryo vials.

  • Perform water analysis, microbial limit tests, sterility tests, bacterial endotoxin testing, cross-contamination studies, and microbial challenge studies.

  • Conduct sampling, labeling, and verification of materials as per defined procedures.

  • Interpret and evaluate laboratory data for accuracy, precision, trends, and compliance impact, recommending corrective actions.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Maintain training records and ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), analytical methods, and technical documentation.

  • Ensure proper filing of quality records and completion of computerized data entry, review, and reporting.

  • Support quality investigations and continuous improvement initiatives within the microbiology function.

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Contribute to complex laboratory projects and coordinate work plans with team members.

  • Provide guidance on microbiological methods, testing techniques, and regulatory compliance.

  • Assist with equipment qualification, calibration, and routine maintenance for laboratory instruments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree, or high school diploma with relevant experience in microbiology or quality control.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical microbiology, laboratory testing, or quality control operations.

  • Technical proficiency in microbiology testing methods and method validation.

  • Knowledge of GMP standards, laboratory documentation, and compliance requirements.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory microbiology techniques.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proven interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across teams and levels.

  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new laboratory techniques and procedures.
