Job Description:
The Associate Medical Coder is responsible for assigning accurate ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to inpatient and/or outpatient medical records, ensuring compliance with departmental guidelines and standards. This role contributes to statistical reporting, reimbursement accuracy, and regulatory compliance for the hospital and related agencies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Code inpatient and/or outpatient records daily as per schedule.

  • Assign ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes with at least 95% accuracy in selection and sequencing.

  • Identify and abstract records consistently and accurately.

  • Meet departmental productivity standards for coding and data entry.

  • Demonstrate time management by minimizing non-essential interruptions and meeting deadlines.

  • Attend coding meetings and educational sessions to maintain proficiency.

  • Exhibit flexibility in working hours when required.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with departmental and hospital staff.

  • Participate in relevant conference calls regarding coding processes.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a graduate.

  • Certified fresher or experienced professional in medical coding.

  • For experienced candidates: 0 to 1 year (G23 level).

  • Must have valid and current certification from AAPC or AHIMA.

    • Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC.

  • Certification details (including ID number) must be submitted during the interview or offer stage.
