Associate Director, Statistical Programming – Syneos Health | Madhapur, Hyderabad, India

Job Summary

Syneos Health is hiring an Associate Director, Statistical Programming to lead regional programming teams, ensure high-quality, on-time deliverables, and drive process excellence across global clinical trials. The role demands 12+ years of statistical programming experience (SAS, ADaM, SDTM, TLF), 2–3 years of people management overseeing 30–40 FTEs, strong client engagement, escalation management, and proven leadership in a regulated clinical trial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line-manage regional/local statistical programming staff: performance management, hiring, training, salary actions, professional development.

  • Meet regularly with subordinate managers to resolve resourcing, quality, timeline, budget, and standards issues.

  • Ensure programming departments meet timelines, budgets, contracts, and quality KPIs.

  • Allocate programmers to projects to balance utilization, skill fit, and development opportunities.

  • Prioritize and resolve cross-project conflicts, restoring delivery effectiveness and team cohesion.

  • Build and maintain a diverse skills pipeline and succession plans for the programming function.

  • Set clear, measurable goals and provide timely, motivating feedback (formal and informal).

  • Troubleshoot complex technical SAS/CDISC problems and drive efficient, cost‑effective solutions.

  • Support business development: RFIs/RFPs, bid defenses, capabilities presentations.

  • Collaborate with Biostatistics, CDM, DB Programming, and IT to standardize SOPs and optimize efficiency.

  • Travel up to 25% as required.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 12+ years in statistical programming within clinical trials, with deep expertise in SAS, ADaM, SDTM, and TLFs.

  • 2–3 years of direct people management (30–40 FTEs) with proven client engagement and escalation handling.

  • Degree: BS/MS in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong understanding of CDISC standards, regulatory expectations (FDA/EMA), and clinical reporting workflows.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, resource management, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to standardize processes/SOPs and drive department-wide operational excellence.
