Position: Associate Director – Medical Science Liaison (Rheumatology: ND, SD, MN, WI, IL, East MO)

Purpose: Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs) require specialized, cutting-edge information for their clinical research and treatment practices. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program is designed to meet these needs through a group of field-based medical professionals with deep knowledge in specific disease states and treatments. MSLs facilitate scientific exchanges and bring valuable insights from the scientific community to guide Lilly’s research and commercialization strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Scientific Knowledge: Engage in continuous learning to remain a trusted source of medical and scientific information for SEs and CEs.
  • Customer Engagement: Focus on customer-facing activities, using emotional intelligence and strategic thinking to enhance customer experience and promote collaborations.
  • Territory Ownership: Develop and implement strategic territory plans to maximize efficiency and prioritize core MSL activities.
  • Strategic Vision & Leadership: Share actionable clinical insights, collaborate across functions, and drive change within the organization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in health sciences (PharmD, MD, PhD) required, with 2-3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience.
  • Field-based role with up to 80% travel and up to 6 weekends annually.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Rheumatology experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience in field-based medical roles and professional networking.
