The Associate Director, Market Research and Competitive Intelligence position at Takeda in Lexington, MA, offers a strategic role in shaping the company’s commercial decision-making processes. This position focuses on delivering market research insights and competitive intelligence (CI) to support business strategies, brand planning, and pre-launch activities across therapeutic areas.


Key Role Highlights

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Market Research & Insights Development:

    • Build and execute a comprehensive market research plan aligned with business priorities.
    • Conduct primary and secondary research to generate actionable insights and identify opportunities.
    • Deliver recommendations to senior leadership to inform brand strategies, commercial planning, and decision-making.
  2. Competitive Intelligence (CI):

    • Lead CI initiatives, including workshops and competitor analysis, to identify strategic opportunities.
    • Attend and collect intelligence at scientific congresses, ensuring insights are leveraged for business strategy.
    • Monitor and analyze competitor tactics and strategy to anticipate market shifts.
  3. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership:

    • Partner with internal teams like Forecasting, Market Access, and Medical Affairs to integrate market research insights.
    • Foster relationships across departments to influence strategic and tactical decision-making.
    • Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders and drive alignment.
  4. Operational Excellence:

    • Ensure all activities comply with SOPs, industry ethics, and Takeda's compliance standards.
    • Manage external vendors, procurement, and budgets for research and CI initiatives.
    • Oversee training and safety compliance for the Business Unit (BU).
  5. Innovation & Strategy:

    • Develop innovative methods for gathering and analyzing data to address complex business needs.
    • Proactively identify market risks and opportunities to ensure Takeda’s competitive edge.

Candidate Profile

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a scientific field is required.
  • Advanced degree in a scientific, analytical, or business discipline preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of market research or CI experience (or 4 years with an advanced degree).
  • At least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of drug commercialization processes and market dynamics.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing cross-functional teams and influencing strategic outcomes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with a track record of engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Passion for excellence in pharmacovigilance and CI processes.

Work Environment

This role is classified as hybrid, with opportunities to work both remotely and in the office as per Takeda’s policy.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $149,100 - $234,300 (depending on qualifications and experience).
