Role Overview

The Assistant Manager – Surgery will support operational management, performance oversight, internal coordination, and stakeholder communication within clinical operations. This role requires strong analytical thinking, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to manage team performance while contributing to process optimization initiatives. Key Responsibilities

Operational and Performance Management

  • Monitor key performance indicators such as productivity, quality, turnaround time, attendance, and attrition.

  • Utilize logical reasoning to achieve quick and accurate turnaround on operational tasks.

  • Manage personnel performance, discipline, and workflow across assigned project areas.

  • Lead and support operational activities ensuring consistent delivery within defined service levels.

Stakeholder and Client Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Act as the primary contact for client communication and support client-facing operations.

  • Review periodic performance reports, identify trends, and recommend improvements.

Process Excellence and Compliance

  • Evaluate operational procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support internal audits and ensure full compliance with organizational standards.

  • Promote quality-driven operations by implementing corrective actions where needed.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Create a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, and high morale.

  • Provide direction to staff, support problem-solving, and prioritize workload effectively.

  • Support senior management in planning and implementing operational strategies.

  • Develop retention strategies and manage team-related challenges proactively.

  • Deliver performance feedback, coaching sessions, and training as required.

Administrative and Strategic Support

  • Assist in preparing annual business plans, budgets, and operational documents.

  • Manage conflict resolution and support critical decision-making activities.

  • Ensure full compliance with organizational policies, role expectations, and operational guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences or Allied Health disciplines including BHMS, BAMS, BPT, Dentistry, Pharmacy, or Nursing.

  • Certified Medical Coder (AAPC or AHIMA: CCS, CPC, CPC-H, CCS-P).

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.

  • Knowledge of workflow processes, organizational structure, and healthcare operations.

  • Awareness of medical billing, healthcare reimbursement methodologies, and coding regulations.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with SMEs, auditors, and trainers for operational support.
