Job Purpose

The Assay Biologist will be responsible for developing and optimizing cell-based and biochemical assays to support drug discovery and development. The role requires expertise in mammalian cell culture, high-throughput screening techniques, and data analysis, ensuring the successful execution of assay development projects.


Key Responsibilities

1. Assay Development & Execution

  • Develop and optimize cell-based assays, including validation across different assay formats.
  • Perform biochemical and enzyme-based assays for drug screening.
  • Conduct compound screening for both small and large molecules.
  • Work with various assay platforms such as TR-FRET, HTRF, Fluorescence Intensity, AlphaScreen, Radioactive, and Luminescence-based assays.

2. Analytical & Data Interpretation

  • Perform ELISA and Luminex-based assays for cytokine estimations.
  • Utilize RT-PCR and Western blotting for molecular biology studies (desirable).
  • Apply flow cytometry and immune-phenotyping techniques (desirable).
  • Analyze and interpret data using GraphPad Prism, Excel-fit, and other statistical tools.

3. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, observations, and results.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to EHS guidelines and best laboratory practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with data integrity, safety, and quality standards as per company policies.

Technical Skills & Competencies

Mandatory Skills:

  • Strong expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques.
  • Hands-on experience in high-throughput screening (HTS) assays and biochemical assay development.
  • Proficiency in ELISA, fluorescence, luminescence, and radiometric assays.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and statistical tools (GraphPad Prism, Excel-fit).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with human primary cells and tissue samples.
  • Exposure to RT-PCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry, and immune-phenotyping.
  • Ability to troubleshoot assay development challenges and implement innovative solutions.

Educational Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree: M.Sc. (with 3+ years of experience) or M.Tech. (with 2+ years of experience).
  • Experience: 2 to 10 years in cell-based and biochemical assays.
  • Ph.D. candidates and freshers are not eligible for this role.
