Position Summary

The Area Medical Advisor / Oncology MSL will act as a trusted scientific partner for oncology clinicians, researchers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams within the assigned territory. The role focuses on scientific engagement, medical education, clinical insights gathering, and supporting oncology medical strategies to improve patient outcomes.

This is a non-promotional, field-based medical role requiring strong oncology expertise, scientific communication skills, and stakeholder management capabilities.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific & Medical Engagement

  • Engage with healthcare professionals (HCPs), KOLs, researchers, pharmacists, nurses, and oncology experts.

  • Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions on:

    • Oncology therapies

    • Clinical trials

    • Emerging medical data

    • Disease management

    • Product safety and efficacy

  • Identify unmet medical needs and treatment gaps within the oncology landscape.

  • Provide evidence-based medical information and scientific support.

Clinical Trial & Research Support

  • Support oncology clinical trials and related medical activities.

  • Collaborate with:

    • Medical Affairs

    • Clinical Operations

    • Commercial teams

  • Facilitate medical insights collection throughout the product lifecycle.

Territory & Stakeholder Management

  • Develop strategic territory plans aligned with medical objectives.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:

    • Academic HCPs

    • Community oncologists

    • Internal stakeholders

    • Decision-makers

  • Understand account-specific educational and scientific needs.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally with:

    • Medical Affairs

    • Marketing

    • Commercial

    • Sales teams

  • Ensure customer-centric scientific engagement while maintaining compliance.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Adhere to:

    • GSK Code of Conduct

    • Medical compliance guidelines

    • SOPs and internal policies

  • Complete training, reporting, and documentation requirements on time.


Required Qualifications

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have one of the following:

  • Pharm D

  • PhD

  • MD

  • OR Master’s degree in healthcare/science-related field (MS, MPH, MSN, etc.) with relevant oncology experience.

Experience

  • Oncology therapeutic area experience.

  • Pharmaceutical industry or Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience.

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in:

    • Pharmacology

    • Pharmacotherapy

    • Oncology-focused clinical practice

  • Experience delivering scientific presentations.

  • Experience conducting peer-to-peer scientific discussions with medical professionals.

  • Experience building relationships with HCPs and KOLs.

Additional Requirements

  • Must currently reside within the assigned territory.

  • Ability to travel 60–75% across territory.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct or indirect patient-care clinical experience.

  • Experience in:

    • Treatment protocol development

    • Clinical pharmacy practice

    • Drug therapy guideline development

  • Strong performance track record.

  • Good digital and computer literacy including AI tools and software applications.
