Job Overview
The Senior Manager – Medical Affairs serves as a core scientific leader within cross-functional franchise teams, responsible for scientific engagement, evidence generation, and medical strategy execution across therapeutic areas. The role acts as the primary scientific interface between the organization and external stakeholders such as Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals (HCPs), while also supporting internal teams across marketing, sales, and regulatory functions.


Key Responsibilities

1. External Scientific Engagements

  • Act as primary scientific liaison to KOLs and physicians

  • Identify, map, and continuously profile thought leaders in assigned geography and therapy areas

  • Engage KOLs through medical affairs initiatives aligned with strategic plans

  • Execute medical affairs strategy including medical education, advisory boards, and evidence generation activities

  • Deliver scientific presentations and balanced medical discussions to HCPs

  • Monitor emerging scientific and clinical trends in therapy areas

  • Convert KOL insights into actionable scientific and strategic inputs

  • Drive peer-to-peer scientific engagement with external experts


2. Internal Scientific & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and regulatory teams for scientific alignment

  • Design and deliver training programs for sales and marketing teams

  • Support communication of scientific data to improve patient outcomes

  • Represent organization in internal and external scientific forums

  • Respond to scientific queries from physicians and internal stakeholders

  • Ensure timely approval of promotional and scientific materials

  • Conduct scientific evaluation of new products through research and KOL interactions


3. Medical Strategy & Evidence Generation

  • Execute strategic medical plans for assigned therapy areas

  • Support or lead medical education and evidence generation initiatives

  • Contribute to advisory boards and special scientific projects

  • Provide input on pre-launch and post-launch medical strategy

  • Drive insights for shaping disease area strategy


4. Scientific Expertise & Advisory Role

  • Serve as scientific expert for assigned therapeutic areas

  • Address complex clinical and product-related queries from HCPs

  • Maintain updated knowledge of clinical research and therapeutic trends

  • Ensure scientific accuracy and compliance in all communications


5. Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all activities align with internal approval and compliance processes

  • Maintain adherence to medical, regulatory, and ethical standards

  • Support audit-ready documentation where required


6. Travel & Field Requirements

  • Up to 30% travel required

  • Participation in scientific meetings, KOL engagements, and field activities

  • Occasional weekend or event-based travel


Required Experience

  • Up to 8 years in Medical Affairs within pharmaceutical or research organizations

  • Experience as Medical Advisor / Regional Medical Advisor preferred

  • Exposure to dermatology, oncology, or diabetes therapy areas preferred

  • Experience in evidence generation and strategic medical planning advantageous

  • Strong experience working in matrix organizations


Educational Qualification

  • Registered Medical Doctor (MBBS) with postgraduate qualification
