Position Overview:

We are seeking a results-driven leader to oversee Area Business Development and Sales Leadership. This role will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing Territory Managers (TMs), and fostering customer relationships. The leader will be instrumental in developing strategic sales plans, guiding the team to achieve targets, ensuring compliance, and driving overall business success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Area Business Development:

    • Create and implement a sales plan that aligns with affiliate guidelines and annual sales targets.
    • Drive customer and hospital-specific sales target planning and allocation, collaborating with the Business Manager (BM) or Business Unit Director (BUD).
    • Maintain knowledge of the local and national healthcare economy, ensuring the strategic placement of Lilly resources to effectively impact customers and patients.
    • Identify new market opportunities, manage territory business planning, and adjust district plans based on results, resources, and evolving business conditions.
    • Key Metrics: Sales target achievement, compliance adherence, SPP target vs. achievement, and team progress.
  2. Sales Rep Development:

    • Source and recruit new TMs, ensuring a personal connection with team members and effective onboarding.
    • Develop individual career and development plans for TMs, leveraging professional networks to offer growth opportunities.
    • Provide coaching in the field to enhance sales skills, customer relationship management, and compliance adherence.
    • Monitor performance, provide feedback, and ensure team engagement through recognition and rewards.
    • Key Metrics: Vacancy closure, quality of hires, retention, and compliance adherence.
  3. Customer Relationship Management:

    • Allocate Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement responsibilities among team members.
    • Plan and execute customer engagement activities with marketing support, selecting appropriate activities for targeted doctors.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key customers to strengthen partnerships and monitor program effectiveness.
    • Share market insights with cross-functional teams to enhance business strategy and planning.
    • Key Metrics: KOL feedback, program participation, and team engagement success.
  4. Reporting and Analysis:

    • Review team reports, 90-day action plans, and monthly trackers to ensure alignment with sales goals.
    • Validate stock and sales data, providing weekly and monthly sales updates for team performance tracking.
    • Present team performance during monthly business reviews, highlighting successes and challenges.
    • Key Metrics: Timely and accurate reporting, data analysis, and performance tracking.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or related field (Advanced degrees such as MBA are a plus).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales with proven leadership ability.
  • Strong track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Expertise in healthcare industry trends and customer needs.
  • Exceptional communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory.
  • In-depth knowledge of compliance and ethical standards in the pharmaceutical industry.
