Job Overview: CARB-X is seeking an expert in the research and development of prevention products to join our team at Boston University. As one of the largest and fastest-growing public-private research partnerships globally, CARB-X accelerates the pre-clinical development of drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics aimed at combating antibiotic resistance. This role involves managing a portfolio of prevention products, including vaccines, live biotherapeutics, bacteriophages, and other preventative solutions. We are looking for someone with extensive experience in managing drug projects in biotech or pharma, particularly in infectious diseases research and early drug development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the prevention portfolio, which includes vaccines, live biotherapeutics, bacteriophage, and other prevention-based projects.
  • Lead interdisciplinary drug project teams from early discovery through initial clinical trials.
  • Collaborate in the evaluation and integration of products into the CARB-X portfolio.
  • Support the successful progression of projects in the prevention space, ensuring they meet strategic goals and milestones.
  • Guide and mentor direct reports to meet both organizational and individual team career objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with drug discovery and development protocols, including animal and/or human subject regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
  • Over 8 years of experience in infectious diseases research and product development from early discovery through initial clinical trials.
  • At least 8 years of leadership experience in drug project management in biotech or pharma.
  • Proven track record in leading teams and managing complex scientific projects.
  • Strong written, oral, and graphical communication skills.
  • Experience in compliance-related aspects of drug discovery and development is a plus.

Additional Capabilities:

  • Familiarity with drug discovery and development compliance requirements for animal and human subjects.
  • Experience in leadership roles related to scientific disciplines, drug discovery, or drug development is desirable.
