Position Summary

The Bioproduct Research and Development (BR&D) organization at Eli Lilly seeks an Advisor in Analytical Chemistry to support the development and commercialization of insulins, peptides, oligonucleotides, therapeutic proteins, monoclonal antibodies, and gene therapies. The candidate will work on analytical method development, problem-solving, new technology implementation, and contribute across multiple projects in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement analytical methodologies for oligonucleotides, peptides, therapeutic proteins, monoclonal antibodies, and synthetic/pegylated peptides/proteins.

  • Contribute to robust control strategies and stability study design.

  • Collaborate across development, manufacturing, and with external partners to advance portfolio projects.

  • Evaluate and implement new analytical technologies and improve existing scientific processes.

  • Apply strong problem-solving skills and contribute to scientific innovation.

  • Potentially supervise BS/MS level scientists within BR&D Analytical Development.

  • Communicate technical work effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Education Requirements

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field; OR

  • MS with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR

  • BS with 10+ years of relevant experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Hands-on experience in chromatographic separations (RP, IEX, SEC), capillary electrophoresis, spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry.

  • Expertise in characterization and quantitation of synthetic molecules (e.g., oligonucleotides, peptides).

  • Strong data interpretation skills, including chemometrics and multivariate modeling.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proven leadership skills in scientific and/or team settings.

  • Ability to prioritize evolving project needs and work productively in interdisciplinary environments.
