Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of coding, billing requirements, and regulatory updates.

  • Monitor KPIs including productivity, quality, turnaround time (TAT), attendance, and attrition.

  • Manage assigned projects, including personnel, performance, and discipline.

  • Provide functional expertise and leadership; manage relationships with internal stakeholders.

  • Serve as primary client contact; manage client communication and expectations.

  • Review and analyze periodic reports, metrics, and operational practices.

  • Support quality initiatives and process improvement projects.

  • Assist in internal audits to ensure compliance.

  • Foster a positive work environment encouraging teamwork, creativity, and high morale.

  • Provide direction, coaching, and feedback to staff; resolve operational issues.

  • Participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of operations and systems.

  • Manage attrition and implement retention strategies.

  • Prepare annual business plans, including operating budgets.

  • Negotiate solutions, resolve conflicts, and handle critical situations.

  • Comply with company policies, employment contract terms, and organizational directives.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate or Postgraduate in Life Sciences or Allied Medicine (e.g., BHMS, BAMS, BPT, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing).

  • Certification: Certified coder – AAPC / AHIMA (CCS, CPC, CPC-H, CCS-P).

  • Experience:

    • 8+ years in medical coding.

    • 2+ years as a Team Lead.

  • Knowledge & Skills:

    • Medical terminology, human anatomy/physiology, pathophysiology, ICD-10 CM, CPT.

    • Organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.

    • Healthcare reimbursement methodologies.

    • Analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

    • Employee engagement and customer satisfaction focus.

    • Ability to coach staff, monitor performance, and address training needs.
