Job Overview

The Telepharmacist provides pharmacy services to multiple hospitals remotely, leveraging technology to enhance clinical contributions to quality patient care. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving medication orders, conducting clinical interventions, and maintaining compliance with both CarepathRx and hospital policies. The role emphasizes collaboration, clinical excellence, and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

Telepharmacy Services

  • Perform remote order entry, verification, drug validation, and counseling as required.
  • Provide drug information, including dosage recommendations, drug interactions, and clinical therapeutic guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with client-specific policies and procedures.

Clinical Excellence

  • Demonstrate expertise in IV fluids, admixture, TPN, narcotics, cardiac drips, IV antibiotics, and chemotherapy.
  • Provide care tailored to specific patient demographics, including pediatric, geriatric, pregnant/nursing, renal, hepatic, and HIV patients.
  • Investigate and resolve medication variances within 48 hours of notification.

Operational Excellence

  • Obtain multiple state pharmacist licenses to serve clients across regions.
  • Document all actions and communications in CarepathRx's system promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain harmonious relationships with clients, providing timely and effective communication.

Technical Expertise

  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues related to VPNs, pharmacy information systems (PIS), and other software tools.
  • Utilize programs such as Microsoft Office and automation systems for efficient care delivery.

Training & Development

  • Participate in new hire and client-specific training.
  • Stay updated on clinical policies, PIS updates, and other relevant developments.

Leadership & Productivity

  • Collaborate with the Regional Manager to implement telepharmacy goals.
  • Maintain productivity metrics and contribute to a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a hospital inpatient setting (preferred).

Licensing:

  • Valid Pharmacist license issued by a State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain multiple state licenses, particularly in Western U.S. states such as AK, CO, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, WA, and WY.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy policies, formulary processes, and therapeutic practices.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in office tools (MS Office, Google Drive) and client/server applications.
  • Demonstrated team management and customer service skills.
