About the Role

Cognizant is seeking a highly experienced Medical Coding professional to join its Healthcare division as a Technical Lead – Medical Coding. This role is designed for experts with 8 to 12 years of experience in medical coding, healthcare product operations, and revenue cycle management. The position provides an opportunity to influence coding strategy, strengthen operational efficiencies, and enhance the quality of healthcare solutions.

This hybrid role requires flexibility to work night shifts while collaborating with global teams across healthcare operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all medical coding operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve healthcare product capabilities and service delivery.

  • Implement and refine strategies to strengthen revenue cycle management and financial performance.

  • Analyze coding data, identify trends, and lead process improvement initiatives.

  • Mentor junior coding professionals and support their skill enhancement.

  • Develop, update, and maintain coding guidelines, SOPs, and process documentation.

  • Conduct periodic audits to validate coding accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.

  • Utilize deep knowledge of healthcare products to support innovation and operational efficiency.

  • Communicate with stakeholders across departments to resolve coding-related queries and challenges.

  • Monitor industry updates, regulatory changes, and best practices relevant to medical coding.

  • Contribute to internal training programs and knowledge-development initiatives.

  • Support continuous improvement programs aimed at optimizing coding workflows.


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 8 to 12 years of professional experience in Medical Coding and Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare products and their operational applications.

  • In-depth expertise in medical coding principles, terminology, and compliance standards.

  • Demonstrated success in leading and optimizing coding teams and processes.

  • Experience working in a hybrid model, with the ability to coordinate virtual and onsite responsibilities.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Proven ability to deliver results in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environments.


Mandatory Certifications

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

  • Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS)
