Cognizant is seeking a Technical Lead – Medical Coding (Healthcare) to lead complex medical coding operations and support revenue cycle management (RCM) excellence. This senior-level role is ideal for professionals with strong domain expertise in medical coding, healthcare products, and compliance-driven delivery models.

The position follows a hybrid work model and requires night shift availability, offering exposure to global healthcare clients and enterprise-scale transformation projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee end-to-end medical coding operations to ensure accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance

  • Drive optimization of revenue cycle management processes to improve financial and operational outcomes

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance healthcare product solutions and coding workflows

  • Analyze coding data, identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and performance support to junior coders and team members

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce standard operating procedures, policies, and documentation for coding practices

  • Ensure adherence to ICD, CPT, HCPCS, payer guidelines, and global regulatory standards

  • Conduct internal audits and quality checks to maintain coding accuracy and compliance benchmarks

  • Support innovation initiatives by leveraging healthcare product and RCM expertise

  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and clients to resolve coding-related issues

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and stay updated on industry changes, regulations, and best practices

  • Contribute to training programs, knowledge transition, and capability development initiatives


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Total Experience: 8–12 years in medical coding and healthcare revenue cycle management

  • Proven expertise in healthcare products, coding operations, and RCM processes

  • Strong knowledge of medical coding standards, compliance requirements, and audit processes

  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams, optimizing coding performance, and driving quality outcomes

  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with night shift alignment

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills


Certifications (Mandatory)

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

  • Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS)
