Job Overview:
IQVIA is seeking a Stat Programmer to manage a team of Statistical Programming (SP) staff, including hiring, training, and supervision. The role involves developing and implementing standard procedures, monitoring performance, and ensuring timely delivery of project requirements. The position also serves as the lead statistical programmer on projects.
Essential Functions:
Technical Responsibilities:
Serve as a Stat Programming consultant for team members and other Biostatistics departments.
Stay informed about developments in statistical programming.
Act as a high-level lead Stat Programmer on major projects.
Provide advanced technical expertise to internal and external clients.
Independently develop project solutions and guide Statistical Programming teams.
Review processes and methodology development, ensuring compliance with SP standards and validation procedures.
Team Management:
Conduct bi-monthly meetings with direct reports to discuss project status, timelines, financial aspects, potential risks, and support needs.
Monitor initiatives, team utilization rates, and training requirements of direct reports.
Address personnel issues and align individual career and training objectives.
Employee Engagement & Planning:
Develop and implement plans for improving employee engagement while ensuring global consistency.
Collaborate with project leads to schedule workloads, manage staffing needs, and address technological requirements.
Develop and manage action plans to ensure accountability.
Communication & Leadership:
Effectively communicate messages from leadership to direct reports.
Serve as a backup or ensure coverage during the absence or turnover of direct reports.
Attend and participate in Bid Defenses, Kick-Off Meetings (KOM), and support Requests for Information (RFI) and Pricing (RFP).
Audit & Compliance:
Participate and support internal and external audits/inspections.
Ensure staff readiness to support audits through adequate training and preparedness.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 7 years of relevant experience, including 1 year in a leadership capacity, OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 8 years of relevant experience, including 1 year in a leadership capacity.
Skills & Expertise:
Advanced knowledge of SAS and technical database skills.
Knowledge of statistics and the clinical drug development process.
Strong leadership, staff management, and influencing skills.
Proficiency in organizational, time management, and metrics monitoring.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Proficiency in mentoring and coaching team members.
Sound judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of Project Finance (EAC, forecasting, burn-rate monitoring, and recognizing OOS).
Ability to evaluate risks, identify solutions, and discuss appropriate actions with teams and customers.
