Job Description:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a key member of Lilly’s Medical Affairs team, with a focus on Autoimmune diseases. As an MSL, you will leverage deep scientific knowledge and provide critical scientific insights to external stakeholders (scientific experts, healthcare providers, and other key customers). You will engage in scientific dialogue, exchange information, and serve as a trusted scientific resource, delivering unbiased and up-to-date knowledge on therapeutic areas, disease states, and Lilly’s products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Scientific Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Maintain and demonstrate advanced knowledge in autoimmune diseases and related therapies.
  • Continuously engage in learning to stay up-to-date with scientific advancements and medical trends in the therapeutic area.
  • Serve as a resource to answer complex scientific questions from healthcare providers, patients, and other external stakeholders.

2. Customer Engagement and Support:

  • Act as the primary interface between Lilly’s medical experts and key scientific experts (SEs).
  • Engage in two-way, mutually beneficial dialogues with SEs to support their medical and scientific information needs.
  • Facilitate connections between SEs and appropriate Lilly internal resources or teams to foster collaborations and research opportunities.
  • Respond to unsolicited medical information requests in accordance with Lilly guidelines.

3. Strategic Vision and Leadership:

  • Analyze and synthesize clinical data to communicate meaningful insights and identify gaps in knowledge.
  • Share customer feedback, including questions or concerns, with Lilly's medical and cross-functional teams for strategic input.
  • Use critical thinking to solve complex problems and collaborate with internal teams to implement solutions.
  • Actively contribute to medical planning, strategy, and decision-making within the affiliate.

4. Territory Ownership and Planning:

  • Take full ownership of your territory, demonstrating effective planning, strategic analysis, and prioritization to achieve key goals.
  • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan to maximize impact, ensuring the delivery of the highest level of service to healthcare providers and scientific experts.
  • Maintain accountability for territory results and track performance against strategic objectives.

5. Compliance and Adherence to Guidelines:

  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements, industry guidelines, and Lilly's standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain high ethical standards, demonstrating good judgment in all actions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or medical field.

  • Experience:

    • Proven expertise in autoimmune diseases, with strong scientific and clinical knowledge.
    • Experience in Medical Science Liaison roles, medical affairs, or clinical research preferred.
    • Ability to engage effectively with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage in scientific dialogue.
  • Skills and Attributes:

    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
    • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
    • High level of emotional intelligence and relationship-building skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and execute strategic plans.
