Position Summary

As a Specialist in Quality – Precision Calibration, you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and reliability of measurement equipment and supporting sterilization processes critical to patient safety and product compliance. This role combines metrology expertise with sterilizer validation studies, requiring strong analytical skills and technical proficiency in calibration systems and data evaluation.


Key Responsibilities

Metrology

  • Perform calibrations on critical gauges, meters, and monitoring devices per SOPs/specifications.

  • Evaluate calibration data and determine acceptability against defined standards.

  • Identify out-of-tolerance or exception conditions and take corrective actions.

  • Maintain calibration standard equipment and interface with external vendors.

  • Review maintenance and quality calibration records, exception documents, and vendor certifications.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly trend reports for calibration performance.

Sterilizer Studies

  • Conduct qualification, requalification, and evaluation studies for sterilization processes.

  • Determine study/test requirements based on protocols.

  • Coordinate vessel availability and prepare test equipment and materials.

  • Generate and implement loading patterns using specialized software.

  • Load temperature sensors and test articles; perform studies and analyze results.

  • Identify out-of-specification conditions and prepare exception reports.

  • Issue and present study packages for management review and approval.

  • Review/approve sterilization maintenance requests.

Cross-Functional Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in precision calibration and sterilization.

  • Perform air filter integrity testing.

  • Collaborate with scheduling, production, quality, sterilization, and corporate teams.


Required Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Associate degree in a technical field preferred (e.g., Metrology, Electronics, Instrumentation, Science, or Mathematics).

    • Completion of Quality Technician Basic Skills Training with hands-on experience in calibration and metrology.

  • Experience & Skills:

    • Experience in GMP/regulated environments and instrument calibrations.

    • Strong math skills and experience with statistical/data analysis techniques.

    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in analyzing test data and identifying root causes.

    • Experience in electrical/electronic systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

    • Proficient in technical writing and documentation.

    • Strong working knowledge of:

      • AS400

      • Trackwise

      • Maximo

      • Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint


Compensation

  • Estimated Base Salary Range: $35,200 – $48,400 annually
    Actual salary is dependent on experience, skills, geographic location, and market conditions.
