Job Title: Maintenance Technician - Food Processing Equipment


Primary Objective:

To ensure the proper maintenance, operation, and safety compliance of process equipment in the plant facility. Execute scheduled maintenance tasks and troubleshoot operational issues, ensuring adherence to food safety, quality standards, and cGMP guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Perform scheduled maintenance on process equipment (e.g., HTG, evaporator, dryer, blending, and packing) as per plant facility requirements.
    • Ensure proper functioning of automated process equipment in the production area.
  2. Compliance with Safety and Quality Standards:

    • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and ensure hygiene standards are maintained in the equipment area.
    • Follow policies, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Comply with EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) protocols, including work permits and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) systems, to perform maintenance tasks safely.
  3. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:

    • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
    • Ensure quick and effective responses to any machine or equipment breakdowns.
  4. Planning and Documentation:

    • Plan weekly maintenance activities in coordination with the team.
    • Document maintenance records accurately in the system (e.g., Maximo).
    • Maintain up-to-date logs of maintenance activities, ensuring they are compliant with cGMP.
  5. Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and product quality.
    • Identify maintenance and improvement needs within the production lines and recommend solutions.
  6. Teamwork and Collaboration:

    • Foster a positive work environment across teams, promoting healthy relationships and open communication.
    • Collaborate with the broader maintenance and production teams to ensure smooth operations.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • ITI (Industrial Training Institute) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation.
  • Experience:

    • 5-6 years of relevant experience in dairy, food, pharmaceutical, or chemical plant maintenance.
    • Hands-on experience with machine operation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge:

    • Strong understanding of the food process industry, particularly in relation to cGMP affecting product quality.
    • Knowledge of machine operations and maintenance in a manufacturing setting.
    • Familiarity with EHS systems and their implementation (work permits, LOTO, etc.).

Accountability & Scope:

  • Process Equipment Monitoring:

    • Operate and monitor process equipment such as HTG, evaporators, dryers, and blending and packing equipment.
    • Ensure the equipment operates according to schedule and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Maintenance and Compliance:

    • Perform preventive maintenance as per the maintenance plan and complete work orders on time in the Maximo system.
    • Ensure continuous adherence to cGMP and maintain hygiene standards in the equipment and process area.
  • Quality Assurance:

    • Maintain high-quality standards throughout the maintenance process, contributing to the overall quality of finished products.

This role requires a technician with a strong understanding of maintenance processes in the food processing industry, with an emphasis on safety, compliance, and the continuous improvement of equipment and processes to ensure efficient and high-quality production.
