Position Summary

The Medical Pre-Underwriting Advisor is responsible for executing underwriting administrative tasks (such as new application processing, review meetings, and quality assurance) and pre-underwriting assessments for individual health insurance schemes.

This role requires strong knowledge in operations, medical, and underwriting domains, along with logical and analytical thinking to ensure applications and policy changes are processed smoothly, accurately, and in compliance with established guidelines.

The core purpose of the position is to ensure all daily activities—including data capture, email management, document filing, and pre-underwriting—are handled with accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to business rules and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Underwriting & Assessment

  • Perform pre-underwriting assessments for new applications and policy changes following established rules and guidelines within agreed turnaround times.

  • Utilize medical and underwriting knowledge to make sound, evidence-based, and consistent decisions.

  • Ensure compliance with business rules and regulatory requirements.

Operational & Administrative Support

  • Manage data capture, handle incoming emails from customers, and prepare and validate underwriting correspondence.

  • File documents accurately and maintain organized records for audit readiness.

  • Support process improvement initiatives and maintain smooth daily operations.

Quality Assurance & Reporting

  • Prepare weekly audit reports and share results with the client’s Hong Kong underwriting team.

  • Conduct random quality checks and provide monthly quality assurance reports.

  • Participate in review meetings and collaborate with the client to enhance accuracy and service delivery standards.


Required Qualifications & Experience

Professional Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in medical, underwriting, or claims functions.

  • Prior experience with medical insurance and understanding of medical conditions is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with logical thinking.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Cantonese (spoken and written) is required.

  • Ability to work under pressure with a positive and professional attitude.

  • Strong sense of ethics, compliance, and accountability in decision-making and actions.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
