Cognizant is seeking a skilled SPE – Medical Coding (Healthcare) professional to join its growing healthcare services team in Bangalore. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and compliant medical coding for healthcare products, supporting billing integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The position follows a hybrid work model, offering flexibility between remote and on-site work.
Perform accurate medical coding of healthcare products in compliance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines
Analyze medical records and documentation to assign appropriate ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes for billing and reimbursement
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders to validate and update coding information
Utilize medical coding software and tools to input, manage, and maintain coding data efficiently
Conduct routine coding audits to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance
Identify coding discrepancies and work cross-functionally to resolve issues
Stay current with evolving medical coding guidelines, payer policies, and healthcare regulations
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance coding accuracy and operational processes
Assist in training and mentoring new team members on coding standards, workflows, and tools
Contribute to the development and enhancement of coding policies, procedures, and best practices
Support implementation of new coding systems, technologies, and process enhancements
Deliver high-quality coding outcomes that positively impact patient care and business performance
Strong knowledge of healthcare products and medical coding standards
Proficiency in medical coding software and healthcare data management tools
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adapt to changing coding regulations and healthcare technologies
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in medical coding within the healthcare industry
Hands-on experience in coding audits, compliance, and reimbursement processes is preferred
