Position Summary

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL)Cardiorenal is a trusted scientific expert representing Bayer in the medical community. You will lead medical and scientific exchange with key stakeholders and healthcare professionals (HCPs), provide support throughout the product lifecycle, and align medical strategies with local business objectives.

Territory: New York City
Residence Required: Candidates must reside within the territory.
Travel Requirement: 50%+ domestic travel


Key Responsibilities

🔬 Scientific Expertise

  • Complete core training and therapeutic area (TA) certification.

  • Stay current with franchise data, regulatory guidelines, and scientific trends.

  • Attend and report on local, regional, and national conferences.

  • Lead team discussions, journal clubs, and TA updates.

  • Identify educational gaps and contribute to the development of scientific resources.

👨‍⚕️ HCP & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build long-term scientific relationships with Thought Leaders (TLs) and HCPs.

  • Execute engagement strategies aligned with national and local medical plans.

  • Support speaker training and scientific content review.

  • Coordinate Advisory Board involvement and stakeholder engagement.

🎓 Scientific Education

  • Deliver scientific presentations to external audiences and stakeholder groups.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries in compliance with FDA and Bayer SOPs.

  • Train external groups as needed in line with local engagement plans.

🧪 Research & Clinical Trial Support

  • Support Bayer-sponsored and investigator-initiated trials.

  • Assist in feasibility assessments, data collection, site initiation, and study support.

📊 Insights & Strategy

  • Generate, document, and share insights from TL interactions and field intelligence.

  • Inform internal stakeholders to refine strategies and tactics.

  • Report potential collaborations or emerging scientific trends.

🤝 Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Area Business Unit teams.

  • Lead or contribute to internal initiatives, project teams, and best practice discussions.

  • Serve as a mentor to MSL peers where appropriate.

💻 Digital Tools & Analytics (New Ways of Working)

  • Champion digital engagement methods and analytical platforms.

  • Complete documentation, training, expense reports, and compliance tasks on time.

  • Use interaction analytics to refine engagement strategies.

  • Support omnichannel strategies to deliver a customer-centric experience.


Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in life sciences, pharmacy, or healthcare.

  • Minimum of 1 year of MSL experience or relevant Medical Affairs/pharmaceutical industry experience.

  • Background in clinical or scientific environments (sales, clinical development, marketing).

  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of clinical trial design and medical literature evaluation.

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with eligibility to drive a company vehicle.

  • Willingness to travel ≥50% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced terminal doctorate (MD, PhD, PharmD, DPH, EdD) or advanced degree in medical/health sciences.

  • Familiarity with FDA and OIG requirements.

  • ≥2 years of pharmaceutical or biotech experience (including post-grad fellowship).


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $140,500 – $203,600

  • Additional Compensation: Bonus and/or commission (if applicable)
