Position Purpose

The Medical Advisor plays a key role in establishing scientific partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) through evidence-based engagement, fostering access and advocacy. This role serves as the primary point of accountability for medical and scientific issues related to vaccines and therapeutic initiatives, driving the development and execution of country-specific medical plans that align with Pfizer’s strategic goals.


Main Responsibilities

  • KOL Engagement:

    • Build and strengthen relationships with KOLs and scientific institutions to support Pfizer’s scientific leadership.
    • Serve as the national medical expert in vaccines, facilitating local medical intelligence and identifying opportunities for collaboration with KOLs and institutions.
  • Strategic Planning:

    • Develop and implement national medical scientific plans tailored to vaccines.
    • Provide insights on competitive research activities, investigator networks, and study site opportunities.
  • Scientific Communication:

    • Disseminate clinical data on Pfizer vaccines in compliance with regulatory standards and product labeling.
    • Lead medical-to-medical communications and support national scientific activities such as symposia, advisory boards, and conferences.
  • Research and Development:

    • Support independent research, non-interventional studies, and post-marketing observational studies.
    • Provide guidance for clinical trials (Phases 1–4) involving Pfizer vaccines.
    • Manage research grants and engage in collaborative research initiatives.
  • Internal Collaboration:

    • Train and support internal teams, including MSRs and commercial colleagues, on clinical data and product knowledge.
    • Provide scientific input to cross-functional teams, contributing actionable medical insights.
  • Compliance and Reporting:

    • Ensure all activities adhere to Pfizer policies, regulatory codes, and best practices.
    • Maintain accurate records of medical-to-medical communications and internal activities.
  • Leadership and Support:

    • Assist the Medical Director in team leadership, coaching, and promoting team initiatives.

Education, Skills, and Professional Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in health sciences (M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong expertise in vaccines, with additional knowledge in epidemiology, public health, clinical trials, or translational medicine.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English at an advanced level.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Medical Affairs, with prior roles as Medical Advisor or MSL preferred.
  • Background in medical writing and submitting papers to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory affairs, drug safety, and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of vaccine development processes and clinical research methodologies.
  • Familiarity with pharmacovigilance, health economics, and artificial intelligence applications.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with a strong teamwork spirit.

Personal Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills (scientific and non-scientific).
  • Strong customer orientation with a science-based approach.
  • Willingness to travel and a valid driver’s license.
