Position Overview

As a Medical Affairs Partner in Ophthalmology, you will be part of a team dedicated to improving patient outcomes and providing cutting-edge medical expertise across both local and global initiatives. You will help shape and execute strategic plans within the Ophthalmology therapeutic area, contributing significantly to Roche's medical affairs efforts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:
    Lead and execute strategic initiatives for the Ophthalmology therapy area, ensuring alignment with Roche's overall vision and goals.

  • Data Analysis & Insights Generation:
    Analyze and interpret clinical trial and published data to generate actionable insights that will drive operational excellence.

  • Collaboration:
    Build and foster strong relationships with therapeutic area experts and healthcare influencers, promoting collaboration across the medical affairs community.

  • Operational Excellence:
    Translate insights into actionable recommendations to improve Roche’s operational effectiveness and the way we work, ensuring continuous improvement.

  • Cross-Functional Engagement:
    Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive high-impact projects and contribute to resource planning and prioritization across chapters.

  • Medical Review:
    Provide medical review and certification for materials and communications when qualified, ensuring all content aligns with medical standards.

  • Team Contribution:
    Share your expertise within the Roche medical affairs community, mentor and coach peers, and actively contribute to the team’s learning and development.


Your Profile

  • Scientific Background:
    A scientific university degree with extensive Medical Affairs experience. Experience within NHS and Ophthalmology therapy area is a plus.

  • Expertise:
    Comprehensive understanding of medical affairs including data & insight generation, scientific partnerships, medical strategy, and medical education.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership:
    Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver high-impact projects. A strong focus on stakeholder management and collaboration.

  • Mentorship:
    Experience in mentoring and coaching peers in the Medical Affairs space, demonstrating leadership and team-building abilities.

  • Communication Skills:
    Strong ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and concisely to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ophthalmology Expertise:
    Ophthalmology therapy area experience is preferred. Final medical signatory status is also an advantage.

  • Leadership Skills:
    Demonstrated use of VACC (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) leadership skills to positively impact colleagues and drive business outcomes.


Working Environment

  • Location:
    This role is based at Roche’s Welwyn office, with flexible working arrangements, including approximately 2 days per week onsite.
